The chair displays considerable attention to detail throughout, with prominent barley-twist elements creating an architectural and sculptural quality to the frame. This extensive turned decoration is particularly characteristic of the Victorian fascination with historic revival styles and gives the chair an impressive period presence. The generously proportioned seat and back are upholstered in an attractive blue fabric, providing both comfort and a striking contrast against the rich, warm tones of the oak. The chair is supported upon elegant turned legs, complemented by substantial stretchers that strengthen the construction while continuing the decorative treatment of the frame.
