Elegantly modelled in the celebrated Blush Ivory palette, the figure displays the refined sculptural quality and delicate colouring for which Royal Worcester became internationally renowned during the late 19th century. The classical subject is portrayed in flowing drapery with carefully modelled details and subtle tonal decoration, creating a particularly graceful and sophisticated composition. The figure bears Royal Worcester factory markings and the James Hadley model number 1827, identifying it with one of the factory's most important sculptural designers. Hadley (1837–1903) produced some of Royal Worcester's most recognisable figural models, particularly classical, historical and romantic subjects. Produced in 1897, during the height of Royal Worcester's Victorian production, the figure combines English porcelain craftsmanship with the period's fascination for Classical Greek and Roman art. A highly collectible example of 19th-century English art porcelain, equally suited to an established Royal Worcester collection or as an elegant decorative sculpture in its own right. Condition: Excellent antique condition according to the previous seller, with the decoration and modelling presenting beautifully.
