An exceptional 19th-century Queen Anne style walnut display cabinet, distinguished by its impressive proportions, extensive glazed display space and outstanding quality of craftsmanship. Very well made and of fine quality, this magnificent cabinet combines generous display areas with practical concealed storage, creating a substantial and highly decorative statement piece. The upper section is arranged with three beautifully glazed display cabinets, each containing a single internal shelf and providing an elegant setting for fine china, glassware, ceramics and treasured collections. Below the upper display section are two useful central drawers, providing convenient additional storage while maintaining the balanced composition of the cabinet. The lower section incorporates a spacious double-door blind cupboard to the centre, providing generous concealed storage. This is flanked on either side by additional glazed cabinets, creating an impressive combination of practical storage and display space. A particularly attractive feature is the striking red interior visible through the glazed sections. Its rich colouring provides a dramatic backdrop for displayed objects while contrasting beautifully with the warm tones of the walnut. The cabinet retains all of its original handles and fittings, further contributing to its period character and desirability. Raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in beautifully carved claw and ball feet, the cabinet displays strong Queen Anne-inspired decorative characteristics. The flowing form of the legs provides an elegant foundation for the substantial cabinet above. The walnut is particularly attractive, displaying beautiful natural grain, deep warm colouring and richly figured veneers throughout. These striking timber patterns give the cabinet considerable depth and visual character. The combination of figured walnut, extensive glazing, red interior, cabriole legs and finely carved claw and ball feet results in a particularly impressive and sophisticated composition.
Standing 189.5 cm high and measuring 118 cm wide, the cabinet has considerable presence while retaining elegant proportions. It would make a magnificent focal point within a dining room, drawing room, library or substantial reception space. For easier transportation and installation, the cabinet separates neatly into two principal sections. Presented in great antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 19th-century origin. An exceptional Queen Anne style walnut display cabinet combining remarkable craftsmanship, extensive practical storage and display capacity, richly figured timber and outstanding decorative presence.
