The substantial upper section is arranged around a large central bevel-edged mirror, elegantly framed by a series of smaller decorative display shelves. Graceful lines and restrained carved details throughout reflect the organic decorative vocabulary associated with the Art Nouveau period. Flanking the mirror are two glazed display cabinets, each opening to reveal three internal shelves. These provide generous space for displaying porcelain, glassware, collectibles or decorative objects while creating an attractive symmetry across the upper section. The lower section incorporates two central drawers accompanied by spacious cupboards, providing substantial concealed storage. The doors and drawers retain their original decorative handles and fittings, further enhancing the period character of the piece. Particularly appealing is the oak itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Rich, warm tones and a pleasing aged character accentuate the flowing lines and carved details of the design. At an imposing 229 cm high and almost 160 cm wide, the dresser has considerable decorative presence while maintaining beautifully balanced proportions. Presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. For ease of transportation and installation, the dresser separates into two principal sections. A substantial and highly decorative example of Art Nouveau-inspired furniture, combining extensive display and storage capacity with an elegant sculptural design. Ideally suited to a dining room, drawing room or sophisticated period interior. Dimensions: Height: 229 cm Width: 159.5 cm Depth: 46 cm Worktop Height: 94 cm See less
