The chandelier has a dramatic architectural silhouette, with four sweeping torchère-form arms radiating from a large central drum-shaped chamber. The metalwork is enriched with scrolling details and secessionist-inspired floral motifs, while a substantial bronze finial anchors the composition beneath. Each arm terminates in an original bronze gallery fitted with locking bolts and a brass b22 bayonet bulb holder. Four beautifully moulded tinted prismatic ribbed glass shades crown the arms, their deeply textured surfaces designed to refract and diffuse the light while creating a particularly atmospheric glow. A turned bronze central column rises above the chandelier to its original bronzed brass suspension chains and decorative ceiling rose. Weighing more than 25 lb, the fixture has an impressive scale and substantial construction that gives it considerable presence when installed. Professionally rewired in period-appropriate fabric-braided three-core cable, earthed and tested, and reported to be in full working order.
