The lamp features an elegant porcelain body with traditional proportions typical of domestic oil lighting produced around the turn of the 20th century. The porcelain construction gives the piece a refined appearance, making it as appealing as a decorative object today as it would originally have been as a functional source of illumination. Its classic form reflects the transition between Victorian and Edwardian decorative tastes, when porcelain oil lamps were frequently displayed in drawing rooms, bedrooms and reception areas as both functional and ornamental pieces. A particularly attractive period accessory for collectors of antique lighting, Victorian and Edwardian decorative arts, or for adding authentic historic character to a traditional or eclectic interior. Presented in good antique condition with age-related wear and surface character consistent with its period.
