The substantial upper section is arranged in three distinct glazed compartments. A single-door cabinet is positioned to either side, while the projecting central breakfront section incorporates a larger pair of glazed doors. Each compartment contains two internal shelves, creating three generous display levels for books, ceramics, glassware, collectibles or decorative objects. Below, the configuration is continued through three substantial blind-door cupboards. Single-door cupboards flank a larger double-door central cabinet, providing extensive concealed storage and creating a pleasing sense of symmetry across the imposing 240 cm width. The bookcase stands upon a solid plinth base, providing excellent stability and giving the piece the strong architectural presence appropriate to its generous scale. The breakfront construction further enhances the depth and visual interest of the façade. Particularly attractive is the natural pine, which displays a beautiful grain and warm colour throughout. Its mellow tone softens the substantial proportions and gives the bookcase considerable character, making it suitable for both traditional country-house interiors and more relaxed contemporary settings. The original handles and fittings have been retained throughout, together with a key, adding to the authenticity and completeness of the piece. At an impressive 240 cm wide and 216.5 cm high, this is a genuine statement bookcase offering exceptional storage and display capacity. It would be particularly effective in a library, drawing room, large living space, dining room or substantial country interior. For easier handling and transportation, the bookcase separates into three principal sections. Presented in good condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 20th-century origin. A commanding and highly desirable English breakfront bookcase, combining impressive scale, beautifully figured pine and an exceptional amount of both open display and concealed storage.
