Well made and of good quality, the bookcase provides excellent storage and display capacity while retaining relatively compact proportions, making it suitable for a wide variety of interiors. The open front is arranged across four practical shelf levels, providing ample space for books, ornaments, photographs, collectibles and other decorative objects. The open construction allows the contents to remain easily accessible while creating a lighter and less imposing appearance than an enclosed bookcase. with a depth of only 19 cm, the bookcase has an especially useful shallow profile, allowing it to provide considerable vertical storage without projecting excessively into the room. This makes it particularly suitable for hallways, studies, libraries and smaller living spaces where floor space may be limited. The individual shelf heights are well proportioned, ranging from approximately 21 cm to 22 cm, providing practical accommodation for a variety of books and decorative pieces. Crafted from quality oak, the timber has matured beautifully and displays gorgeous natural grain, rich warm colouring and attractive tonal variation throughout. The understated construction allows the natural character and figuring of the oak to remain the principal decorative feature. Its clean lines, pleasing proportions and solid construction reflect the quality of its manufacture, resulting in a practical piece with considerable character and enduring appeal. Standing 107 cm high and measuring just 75.5 cm wide, the bookcase offers useful storage capacity within a compact footprint, making it equally suitable for a study, living room, hallway, office or reading room. Presented in good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin.
