The left-hand section incorporates a glazed cabinet fitted with two internal shelves, creating three practical display levels for books, ceramics, collectibles or decorative objects while helping to protect the contents from dust. To the right is a useful small drawer retaining its original handle and fittings, providing convenient storage for smaller household or personal items. Beneath is an open shelf, offering easily accessible space for books or decorative objects. The lower section incorporates a single-door cupboard, providing further concealed storage and considerably increasing the practicality of this relatively compact piece. Traditional linenfold decoration adds architectural interest to the cabinet and reflects the enduring influence of historic English furniture design during the early 20th century. The oak itself displays pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Rich, warm colour and an established patina give the timber considerable depth and character, naturally complementing the traditional detailing. The bookcase is raised upon classic bracket feet, providing a stable foundation while maintaining a beautifully balanced and understated silhouette. All original handles and fittings have been retained, preserving the authentic character and integrity of the piece. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. At only 95 cm wide, 87.5 cm high and an exceptionally shallow 28 cm deep, this is a particularly versatile piece for interiors where space is limited. Its unusual combination of glazed display, open shelving, drawer storage and an enclosed cupboard provides considerable functionality within a remarkably compact footprint. Ideally suited to a library, study, drawing room, hallway or sophisticated country-house interior.
