The design is characteristic of french interwar decorative lighting, with the glass shade suspended from three original silk ropes. Each suspension point incorporates cushioned anchor fittings and chrome-plated s-rings, creating an attractive contrast between the softer textile suspension and architectural metalwork. Above is a three-way bronze and brass ceiling plate fitted with individual suspension hooks and a central cable lock. A substantial bronze central shaft extends through the composition and retains its original bronze e27 edison screw bulb holder. The combination of decorative french glass, silk rope and warm bronze gives the fixture a refined character typical of high-quality art deco lighting, while its generous proportions make it particularly effective as a centrepiece over a dining table, entrance hall or principal living space. Professionally restored and rewired using period-appropriate three-core fabric-braided cable, earthed and tested, and reported to be in full working order.
