Well made and of good quality, this unusual bookcase provides generous storage and display capacity while retaining particularly practical, shallow proportions. The open front is arranged across multiple shelves, creating four generous display levels suitable for books, ornaments, photographs, collectibles and other decorative objects. Iron detailing to the back provides an attractive contrast against the warm oak and gives the bookcase its distinctive industrial-inspired character. The combination of timber and metal creates an appealing aesthetic capable of complementing both traditional and contemporary interiors. A raised gallery to the top completes the design, introducing additional visual interest and giving the piece a more defined and finished silhouette. The oak displays gorgeous natural grain, rich warm colouring and attractive tonal variation throughout. Its natural character works particularly well alongside the darker iron detailing. At only 17.5 cm deep, the bookcase has exceptionally useful shallow proportions, making it particularly suitable for hallways, studies and living spaces where floor space may be limited. Despite its narrow depth, the 84 cm width and 114 cm height provide substantial vertical display capacity, with four levels each offering approximately 22.5 cm of usable height. Its combination of practical open storage, shallow proportions, warm oak construction and distinctive iron detailing makes this a particularly versatile and decorative example of industrial style furniture. Presented in good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 20th-century origin. A highly practical and characterful oak open bookcase, combining generous display capacity with distinctive industrial-inspired detailing and wonderfully versatile proportions.
