The generously proportioned rectangular top displays particularly attractive natural oak grain, with rich warm tones and a mature patina that enhances the character of the timber. The traditional tilt-top mechanism allows the tabletop to be raised into a vertical position when not in use, significantly reducing the table's footprint for convenient storage while reflecting a practical feature characteristic of period furniture. The top is supported upon a substantial central pedestal terminating in an elegantly formed tripod base. The decorative legs provide excellent stability while giving the table a graceful and beautifully balanced silhouette. Exceptionally well constructed, the table demonstrates the quality and attention to detail associated with fine Victorian cabinetmaking. The combination of substantial oak construction and refined proportions makes it both highly practical and visually appealing. Presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 19th-century origin. A versatile example of Victorian furniture, ideal as a breakfast table, intimate dining table, centre table or occasional table within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
