The cabinet has a particularly attractive tall and slender profile, measuring only 49 cm wide, making it an excellent choice for interiors where floor space is limited while still providing substantial display and storage capacity. The upper section incorporates a distinctive drop-down compartment, providing useful concealed storage. Below is a glazed cupboard fitted with three internal shelves, creating four display levels suitable for presenting ceramics, glassware, collectibles, objets d'art or other treasured pieces. The interior is beautifully finished in green, providing an attractive contrast against the warm walnut exterior while creating an elegant backdrop for displayed objects. Original decorative brass handles and fittings further enhance the cabinet's period character, while a small raised gallery crowns the piece and gives the tall silhouette an attractive architectural finish. The cabinet stands on distinctive ogee bracket feet, providing a traditional and well-balanced foundation. Throughout, the walnut displays a particularly attractive natural grain with a deep, rich colour and established patina that highlights the quality and character of the timber. Standing 133.5 cm high while occupying a footprint of just 49 by 42.5 cm, this is an exceptionally versatile piece. It would work particularly well within a drawing room, dining room, study, hallway or bedroom, including spaces where a conventional wider display cabinet would be impractical. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 19th-century origin. A highly desirable and decorative example of 19th-century English cabinet furniture, combining beautifully aged walnut, original brass hardware, an attractive green interior and unusually narrow proportions with excellent practical display and storage space.
