The table features a practical central drawer retaining its original brass handles, providing useful concealed storage while preserving the authentic period character of the piece. Above the main tabletop rises an elegant superstructure incorporating two open shelves. These are supported by finely turned and carved pillars, creating an attractive architectural composition while providing additional space for displaying decorative objects, books or collectibles. The table is raised upon characteristic bobbin-turned legs united by a substantial supporting stretcher. The extensive turning and carved detailing throughout demonstrate considerable craftsmanship and give the piece a distinctive sculptural quality.
