The chandelier is constructed around a substantial twin-rail support cage, bordered by a striking row of large rectangular multi-faceted crystal stones. Graduating rows of crystal beads form the basket beneath, creating a richly layered surface designed to capture and refract the light. Four decorative twin-row bow motifs ornament the upper perimeter, each supporting graceful drapes of crystal bullet beads and adding an especially refined decorative element to the composition. The basket terminates in a large ornamental finial mounted beneath a circular brass tray. Original white-metal interlink suspension chains with bronze S-rings connect the chandelier to its highly decorative ceiling rose. The rose features a deeply moulded relief border and individual bronze chain hooks, allowing it to sit directly against the ceiling. Internally, a central tubular brass column supports the original bronze and brass B22 bayonet-fit bulb holder. The chandelier has been professionally serviced, refurbished and rewired with period-appropriate three-core fabric-braided cable, earthed and tested. When illuminated, the numerous faceted crystals produce an attractive interplay of reflected and refracted light.
