The substantial decanter is beautifully formed from thick, brilliantly polished crystal, its elongated faceted body overlaid in an intense cobalt blue and precisely cut back to clear. Broad vertical cuts create a dramatic architectural pattern around the body, emphasizing the exceptional clarity and depth of the crystal. The matching pointed stopper repeats the cobalt cut-to-clear treatment, completing the elegant elongated silhouette. Around the neck is a substantial polished silver mount bearing the French Minerva hallmark for high-grade silver together with a maker's mark. The silver provides an elegant contrast to the saturated cobalt crystal and gives the decanter a distinctly luxurious character. The six accompanying liqueur glasses echo the decanter's design on a smaller scale. Each has a substantial clear crystal base beneath a cobalt blue upper section, with deeply cut oval and vertical facets revealing the clear glass underneath. Their unusually thick bases and sculptural internal profiles create particularly attractive optical effects when viewed through the crystal. Produced during the first quarter of the 20th century, the service reflects the technical sophistication for which Baccarat became internationally celebrated. The combination of richly coloured overlay crystal, precision cutting and precious-metal mounting places this set among the more luxurious forms of French drinking glass from the period. The crystal itself is unsigned, consistent with many Baccarat pieces produced before the introduction of the familiar permanent acid-etched factory signature in the 1930s. Presented complete with its original complement of six matching glasses, this seven-piece service is an impressive collector's example of early 20th-century French luxury crystal and would make a striking addition to a drinks cabinet, bar or collection of Baccarat glass.
