The bookcase features four open shelves to the front, providing generous and easily accessible storage and display space for books, ornaments, collectibles and decorative objects. An attractive raised gallery crowns the bookcase, adding subtle architectural interest and period character to the design. The piece stands on a substantial plinth base, providing a sturdy and well-balanced foundation. Throughout, the oak displays particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established character, highlighting the quality of the timber and craftsmanship evident in its construction. At 76.5 cm wide but only 18 cm deep, this is an exceptionally practical bookcase for areas where floor space is limited. Its unusually shallow profile makes it particularly suitable for a hallway, study, library, bedroom or living space without projecting significantly into the room. The restrained Edwardian design and warm oak allow the bookcase to complement traditional and period interiors while equally providing natural texture and character within a contemporary setting. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and versatile Edwardian bookcase combining richly grained oak, four useful open shelves, a decorative raised gallery and exceptionally practical shallow proportions.
