The table features a useful integrated magazine and storage rack beneath the top, providing convenient space for books, newspapers and magazines while forming an attractive architectural element within the design. Its clean lines and restrained proportions allow the natural beauty of the oak to remain at the forefront, reflecting the Arts and Crafts preference for honest construction and functional design rather than excessive ornamentation. Throughout, the oak displays gorgeous natural figuring, rich mellow colouring and attractive tonal variation, giving the table considerable warmth and character. The narrow proportions are particularly practical.

At only 24 cm deep, the table can be positioned comfortably beside an armchair or sofa, within a hallway, bedroom or reading area without occupying excessive floor space. Its upper surface provides useful space for a lamp, drinks or decorative objects, while the magazine rack below offers convenient additional storage. The combination of beautifully figured oak, practical integrated storage and understated Arts and Crafts design makes this an especially versatile piece, equally suited to traditional and contemporary interiors.

Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable Arts and Crafts oak side table combining beautiful natural grain, compact proportions and a practical magazine rack within a simple and timeless design.
