The generously proportioned rectangular top provides a practical surface while showcasing the attractive natural grain and character of the oak. Three drawers are arranged across the front, providing useful concealed storage while maintaining the table’s beautifully balanced proportions. Each retains its original brass handles, adding authentic period detail and complementing the warm tones of the timber. The table is also complete with its key. The table is raised upon finely turned legs terminating in traditional pad feet, creating a graceful silhouette while providing a strong and stable foundation. Particularly appealing is the solid oak, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Centuries of age and use have developed a rich colour and mature patina that give the piece considerable warmth, depth and individual character. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 18th-century origin. A highly desirable and versatile example of early English furniture, suitable as a side table, writing table, hall table or occasional table within traditional, country-house or sophisticated contemporary interiors.
