The generously proportioned rectangular top provides an excellent surface for a lamp, books or decorative objects, while the table's compact overall proportions make it particularly versatile. A single drawer is positioned beneath the top, providing convenient concealed storage for smaller household or personal items. The drawer retains its original fitting, preserving the period character of the piece. The table is raised upon attractive turned legs, creating a traditional and beautifully balanced silhouette. A substantial lower shelf provides additional storage or display space for books, magazines or decorative objects while contributing further strength and stability to the construction. Particularly appealing is the oak itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Rich, warm tones and an appealing aged patina give the timber considerable depth and character. Very well constructed with a sturdy, reassuringly solid feel and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. Its combination of drawer storage, lower shelving and relatively compact proportions makes this an especially practical occasional table, ideally suited beside a sofa or armchair or for use as a lamp table or bedside table within traditional, country-house or contemporary interiors.
