The rectangular top provides a practical and generously proportioned surface while showcasing the attractive natural grain and character of the oak. Three drawers are arranged across the front, providing useful concealed storage for smaller household items. Each retains its original brass drop handles, adding attractive period detail and complementing the rich tones of the timber. The table is raised upon finely turned legs terminating in traditional pad feet, creating a graceful and beautifully balanced silhouette while providing a strong and stable foundation. Particularly appealing is the oak itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Centuries of age and use have developed a rich, warm colour and mature patina that give the piece considerable depth and authentic character. Solidly constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 18th-century origin. A versatile and characterful example of early English furniture, suitable as a side table, hall table, writing table or occasional table within traditional, country-house or contemporary interiors.
