Created during the interwar period, the piece combines traditional british silversmithing with the elaborate symbolism associated with historic masonic regalia. The silver-gilt construction provides the richness and appearance of gold while retaining the substance and craftsmanship of sterling silver. The medallion is finely detailed with traditional masonic imagery, giving it both ceremonial significance and considerable decorative appeal. Its presentation format suggests that it was originally produced to commemorate an appointment, achievement or important event within a masonic lodge. The warm gilt surface beautifully accentuates the relief decoration and gives the piece an elegant aged character. As an object dating to 1931, it represents an attractive example of early 20th-century british fraternal silverwork. Its compact proportions make it particularly suitable for display within a cabinet alongside antique silver, medals, historic regalia or other british decorative objects. A distinctive collectible combining sterling silver craftsmanship, masonic history and an attractive period silver-gilt finish. Maker: r.
