The generously proportioned rectangular top provides an excellent practical surface while displaying the natural beauty and character of the oak. A single drawer is incorporated beneath the top, providing convenient concealed storage for smaller household or personal items. The drawer retains its original brass drop handles, an especially appealing feature that preserves the authentic character of this early piece. Particularly distinctive are the elegantly bobbin-turned legs. Their repeated turned decoration creates a strong sculptural quality and gives the table considerably greater visual interest than a more conventionally constructed Georgian occasional table. The legs are united by supporting stretchers, providing additional strength and stability while contributing to the architectural character of the base.
