The substantial vase is decorated in underglaze blue and features traditional Chinese Foo Dog imagery. The bold cobalt-blue decoration contrasts beautifully against the lighter porcelain ground, creating a dramatic composition across the generously proportioned body. Foo Dogs, also known as Chinese guardian lions, have long been important protective symbols within Chinese art and architecture, traditionally representing strength, guardianship and prosperity. Their inclusion gives the vase both decorative presence and strong traditional symbolism. The impressive scale makes this an excellent statement piece for a substantial console, pedestal, sideboard or entrance hall, while its classic blue and white palette allows it to complement both traditional and contemporary interiors. Dating to circa 1850–1899, the vase is an antique Qing dynasty piece crafted in porcelain with hand-painted and hand-worked decoration. The vase retains authentic age-related character. There is a drilled hole to the base and a minor chip to the rim, with general wear consistent with its considerable age. A substantial and highly decorative example of 19th-century Chinese porcelain, combining impressive scale, traditional guardian-lion imagery and the enduring appeal of underglaze blue decoration.
