Crafted in richly toned teak, the table is distinguished by its exceptionally clean proportions, refined joinery and slender tapered legs. The beautifully figured top displays the natural warmth and grain of the timber, while the restrained geometric form reflects Severin Hansen’s characteristically sophisticated approach to furniture design. Discreetly incorporated beneath the tabletop is a practical storage drawer for sewing accessories and smaller items. Below this sits a generously proportioned woven wicker basket, traditionally intended for yarn, fabric and needlework materials. The contrast between the warm teak and naturally coloured wicker gives the piece additional texture and visual interest. Although originally conceived as a sewing table, its elegant proportions make it highly versatile today. It would work equally well as a side table, bedside table, occasional table or decorative storage piece within both Mid-Century and contemporary interiors. The table is in very good vintage condition, with light age-related wear consistent with its period and use. The teak retains an attractive warm finish, the wicker basket presents well, and the structure remains solid. The maker’s mark is present to the underside.
