A beautifully crafted 19th-century English Victorian pier cabinet, finely constructed in walnut and distinguished by its elegant proportions, glazed display interior, delicate satinwood stringing and attractive brass mouldings. The glazed front opens to reveal two internal shelves, creating three well-proportioned display levels for porcelain, glassware, decorative objects or treasured collectibles. The cabinet retains its original key, further enhancing its authentic period character. Fine satinwood stringing decorates the cabinet throughout, providing an elegant contrast against the richly figured walnut. Attractive brass mouldings add another layer of decorative refinement, highlighting the architectural lines of the cabinet and reflecting the attention to detail characteristic of quality Victorian furniture. The cabinet is raised on elegant turned legs, giving the piece a graceful and well-balanced appearance while complementing its refined decorative treatment. Particularly appealing is the walnut itself, displaying magnificent natural grain, rich warm colouring and beautiful figuring throughout. The combination of richly figured timber, delicate inlay, brass detailing and glazing gives the cabinet considerable visual depth and decorative presence.
with a width of 76 cm and a depth of only 32 cm, the cabinet offers useful display capacity while retaining the relatively shallow proportions traditionally associated with pier furniture. This makes it particularly versatile for a drawing room, dining room, hallway, library or living space. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 19th-century origin. A highly desirable example of Victorian cabinet furniture, combining richly figured walnut, fine satinwood stringing, decorative brass mouldings, three display levels and elegant turned legs within a beautifully proportioned design.
