The upper section incorporates a beautifully glazed cabinet fitted with two internal shelves, creating three useful display levels for books, ceramics, glassware, collectibles or other treasured objects. The glazing allows the contents to remain clearly visible while providing protection from dust. A particularly attractive feature is the centrally positioned bevel-edged mirror, which introduces additional light and depth to the composition while giving the bookcase a more decorative and sophisticated architectural presence. Below are two practical drawers providing convenient storage for smaller household items. Their restrained design integrates beautifully with the surrounding cabinetry and contributes to the functionality of the piece. The substantial lower section comprises a two-door blind cupboard opening to reveal a single internal shelf, providing generous concealed storage for larger books, tableware, linens or other items. The entire piece stands upon a solid plinth base, creating a strong and well-balanced foundation for its impressive 209 cm height. Throughout, the walnut displays particularly attractive figuring with a deep, rich colour and established patina. Elegant ebony detailing provides a subtle contrast against the warmer walnut, further enhancing the refined Edwardian character of the bookcase. Despite its considerable height, the bookcase measures only 99 cm wide, giving it excellent vertical presence without requiring excessive wall space. Its combination of glazed display, mirror, drawers and enclosed storage makes it an exceptionally versatile piece for a library, drawing room, dining room or study. For easier transportation and installation, the bookcase separates into two main sections. Presented in great antique condition, with appropriate minor signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable example of Edwardian cabinet furniture, combining beautifully figured walnut, contrasting ebony detail, bevelled mirror glass and an exceptionally practical arrangement of display and concealed storage.
