The chaise features a beautifully sculpted asymmetric profile with a generously proportioned seat and raised upholstered back, creating an inviting form designed for comfortable reclining. Rich yellow upholstery provides a striking contrast against the dark mahogany frame, while the traditional deep-buttoned back introduces texture and enhances the sophisticated Victorian character of the piece. The exposed mahogany show-wood frame is particularly attractive, displaying pronounced natural grain and rich, warm colour throughout. Its flowing contours complement the upholstered form and demonstrate the quality of the craftsmanship. The chaise is raised upon elegantly shaped cabriole legs terminating in brass castors, allowing the substantial piece to be repositioned more easily while adding an attractive period detail. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 19th-century origin.

At 172 cm wide, this is an impressive yet versatile piece of period seating, ideally suited as a statement chaise within a drawing room, bedroom, dressing room, library or sophisticated contemporary interior.
