The octagonal top is richly carved with dense scrolling floral and foliate decoration arranged in concentric borders. At its centre is a contrasting circular panel delicately inlaid with floral motifs and fine stringing, creating an attractive focal point against the richly patinated timber. The elaborate folding base is equally impressive, composed of hinged panels with finely carved frames and pierced fretwork depicting trailing grapevines, leaves and fruit. The legs and cross braces are further embellished with hand-carved floral ornamentation. The base conveniently folds flat, reflecting the practical construction traditionally associated with Anglo-Indian occasional furniture and allowing the table to be easily stored or transported. A striking piece of decorative craftsmanship that would work beautifully as a side table, centre table or occasional table in a traditional or eclectic interior.
