The bookcase incorporates three generously proportioned open shelves, providing excellent space for books, decorative objects, collectibles or objets d'art. The open-fronted arrangement allows easy access while giving displayed pieces an attractive and uncluttered presentation. Its unusual design sets the bookcase apart from more conventional examples, combining practical storage with a carefully balanced and highly decorative silhouette. The piece is raised upon brass castors, allowing it to be repositioned with relative ease while adding an attractive period detail to the construction. Particularly appealing is the mahogany itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Deep, warm colour and an appealing aged patina highlight the quality and natural beauty of the timber. Very well constructed and presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin.

At only 61 cm wide and 38.5 cm deep, this is a particularly versatile bookcase, providing useful storage without occupying excessive floor space. Ideally suited to a library, study, drawing room, bedroom or sophisticated contemporary interior.
