A beautifully crafted early 20th-century english edwardian display cabinet, distinguished by its elegant demi-lune form, extensive glazing and particularly attractive cabriole legs terminating in claw-and-ball feet. The graceful demi-lune shape gives the cabinet an elegant curved profile and considerable decorative presence, while allowing it to sit comfortably against a wall without projecting excessively into the surrounding room. The glazed front opens to reveal two internal glass shelves, creating three generous display levels for glassware, porcelain, collectibles, decorative objects or other treasured pieces. The glass shelving allows light to travel through the interior, enhancing the presentation of the objects displayed within. A subtly carved frieze provides additional decorative interest, demonstrating the attention to detail and craftsmanship incorporated into the design. The cabinet is raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in striking claw-and-ball feet, one of the most distinctive features of the piece and an attractive reference to earlier english furniture traditions. A raised gallery to the top provides a further architectural finishing detail, while the cabinet is complete with its key, adding to its practicality and period character. Throughout, the timber displays attractive natural grain, warm colouring and established character, beautifully complementing the glazed surfaces and carved detailing.
at 107 cm wide and only 40 cm deep, the cabinet provides substantial display capacity while retaining relatively shallow and versatile proportions. It would make an impressive addition to a drawing room, dining room, hallway, library or living space. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable example of edwardian display furniture, combining an elegant demi-lune form, three glazed display levels, carved detailing, raised gallery and impressive cabriole legs with claw-and-ball feet within a beautifully proportioned design.
