The generously proportioned rectangular top provides an excellent surface for display or everyday use, while two drawers positioned beneath offer convenient concealed storage without detracting from the balanced appearance of the piece. The table is supported by two substantial pillar-form pedestal bases, united by a central cross stretcher that provides excellent strength and stability. Traditional bun feet complete the base and give the table a particularly attractive architectural silhouette. The mahogany displays pronounced natural grain and figuring throughout, complemented by deep, warm tones and a mature patina that highlights the quality and character of the timber. Exceptionally solid and heavy in construction, the table demonstrates the quality of craftsmanship associated with fine 19th-century furniture. Presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 19th-century origin. A versatile and substantial piece suitable as a side table, console table, writing table or decorative display table within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
