The rectangular top displays attractive natural mahogany figuring, enhanced by fine satinwood stringing that provides an elegant contrast against the deep, warm tones of the timber. A single drawer provides useful concealed storage and retains its original brass handles, preserving the authentic period character of the piece. The table is raised upon slender tapered legs fitted with brass castors, allowing it to be repositioned with relative ease. The legs are united by an elegant cross stretcher, providing additional stability while contributing to the graceful architectural form. Finely reeded edges provide further decorative interest and demonstrate the attention to detail invested in the construction. The mahogany displays a rich colour and attractive natural grain throughout, complemented by a pleasing aged patina. Solidly constructed and presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 19th-century origin. Its compact proportions make this an exceptionally versatile piece, suitable as a side table, lamp table, occasional table or bedside table within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
