The embossing gives the pale surface a fine pebbled grain that catches the light across the top and keeps the boxes from reading flat. Ivory and brass is the whole palette, with no pattern, no contrast piping and nothing else competing for attention on the lid.

Each box measures 12 inches wide, 6 inches deep and 3 inches high, long and low rather than bulky. That shape suits letters, spectacles, remotes, keys and the small things that otherwise sit loose on a surface. Used apart, one takes a desk and the other a bedside table. Set side by side on a console they draw a longer and more deliberate line along the top of it. Sarreid lists this colorway as Osprey White.

Pale boxes work hardest against dark wood, where the ivory lifts and the brass knobs pick up the same warmth as the timber. On a white lacquered console the pebbled texture does the work instead. Stack them slightly offset on a coffee table beside a few books, or run them along the foot of a dresser where the depth of the surface is shallow.

Color variation is common and acceptable on vintage leather.
