A long, narrow case and domed lid are bound in ivory leather, with evenly spaced brass nailheads marking their edges. The lid curves over. An embossed rosette sits at the centre of the front panel, a small brass boss fixed at its middle.
Four brass ball feet carry the case at the corners, turned round and left with an aged tone that answers the nailheads above them. It weighs 8 pounds. It measures 24 inches wide, 5 inches deep and 6 inches high.
