It features a double-lidded design with an inner gold-gilt metal rim and lid under a primary sterling outer cap. This luxury vanity, cosmetic, or tooth powder jar was designed as an integral accessory for a high-end, leather-bound traveling vanity case. The secondary airtight inner gilt lid ensured that expensive cosmetic creams, ointments, or scented pills wouldn't leak while aboard a steamship, or similarly during bumpy train or early automobile journeys.

Lion Passant: The statutory symbol certifying Sterling Fineness (.925 purity). 3.Leopard’s Head: The town mark for the London Assay Office. 4. Lowercase "h": The exact date letter designating the hallmarking year of 1903.
