Alternating vertical ribbons of opaque rose pink and translucent opalescent white define the body of this late nineteenth-century art glass vase. The form features a broad, bulbous lower body that tapers gently into a tall neck before opening out into an undulating, crimped Jack-in-the-pulpit style rim, with the rear petal drawn upward to create a pronounced floral lip. A fine spiral trail of citron yellow glass encircles the vessel from the base to the neck. This applied trail has been impressed with a fine milled or rigaree pattern, adding rich tactile relief and catching the light against the smooth underlying canes. Where the yellow glass passes over the pink and white stripes, subtle optic shifts and reflections emerge. Vases of this character were produced in the late Victorian period, circa 1890, and are traditionally attributed to French glassmakers such as Clichy or the Legras works at Saint-Denis, though related threaded techniques were also mastered in the Stourbridge district of England. The underside reveals the tightly coiled start of the applied yellow trail enclosing a smoothly ground and polished pontil scar.
The vase stands approximately 22.5 to 23 cm high and has a base diameter of roughly 11 cm. It displays very well, showing only a very small loss to a short section of the fine applied ribbed threading. The body glass is sound, with no chips to the crimped rim, no cracks, and no signs of restoration. We ship internationally, tracked.
