A striking example of mid-century Danish Modern design, this vintage teak rocking chair is attributed to Norwegian designer Frank Reenskaug for Danish furniture manufacturer Bramin (formerly N.A. Jørgensens Møbelfabrik), circa 1958. Its distinctive construction closely matches the celebrated Model 182 rocking chair, recognized for its elegant spindle back, sculptural armrests, graceful rocking rails, and suspended upholstered backrest.
Crafted from warm-toned teak, the chair showcases the refined craftsmanship and organic lines characteristic of Scandinavian furniture from the 1950s. The gently curved upper backrest, slender wooden spindles, and angular arm supports create an architectural silhouette that is both functional and visually compelling.
The chair features a removable blue ribbed upholstered seat cushion and a matching suspended back cushion secured with contrasting mauve-colored cord. The original-style woven seat support system remains beneath the removable cushion.
Acquired from a collection of period furniture that included other pieces bearing manufacturer’s marks, this chair is consistent in design and construction with documented examples of Frank Reenskaug’s Model 182. The manufacturer’s stamp is no longer present; therefore, the designer and manufacturer attribution is based on construction and visual comparison rather than a surviving label.
Condition
Good vintage presentation with visible signs of age and use. The teak frame displays attractive grain and a warm patina, along with surface scratches, scuffs, finish wear, and discoloration consistent with its age. More noticeable wear is present on the armrests, upper frame, and rocker rails.
The blue upholstery shows some creasing and general use. The woven seat support includes contrasting yellow webbing, visible staples, and an area of fraying along one of the tan support straps. The webbing should be evaluated and repaired or replaced as needed before regular use.
The chair is offered in its existing vintage condition, without professional restoration. Please review all photographs for a detailed representation of its condition.

The teak frame retains its warm finish and attractive wood grain, with surface scratches, scuffs, areas of discoloration, and finish wear, particularly along the armrests, upper backrest, and rocker rails. The seat support webbing requires repair. The woven support system includes a combination of tan and yellow straps, with visible staples and fraying at one of the tan strap attachment points. The seat should be professionally repaired or rewebbed before regular use. The blue upholstered seat and suspended back cushions are believed to be later replacements rather than original to the chair. Both show signs of use, including minor creasing and general fabric wear. The back cushion is secured with contrasting mauve-colored cord. The chair retains its distinctive original-style construction and sculptural design. It has not been professionally restored and is offered in its current vintage condition. The manufacturer’s stamp is missing. Attribution to Frank Reenskaug for Bramin, Model 182, is based on close comparison of the chair’s design, proportions, and construction with documented examples. Please review all photographs carefully, particularly those showing the seat webbing, upholstery, and areas of finish wear. less
