An exquisite, museum-quality antique late-Victorian covered vegetable tureen manufactured by the legendary Doulton Burslem pottery works in Staffordshire, England. This striking piece features the highly coveted "Arundel" pattern, an elegant aesthetic showcasing a deep, rich underglaze flow-blue transfer design of flowering branches and ripe pomegranates. The body and lid are beautifully elevated by heavy, hand-applied overglaze sponged gold-gilt filigree accents, highlighting the scrolling acanthus leaf handles and ornate finial.
Dating strictly to circa 1891–1902, this piece bears the historic vertical banner backstamp utilized by the Nile Street works right before receiving their Royal Warrant. A spectacular, three-dimensional statement piece that adds immediate "Grandmillennial" charm and curated history to a dining room hutch, console table, or mantle display.
Dimensions:
• Length: 11 inches (including handles)
• Width: 9 inches
• Height: Approximately 6 inches (to top of lid finial)

The underglaze flow-blue transfer remains crisp and vibrant, and the overglaze gold sponge detailing retains excellent brightness. Consistent with authentic utilitarian earthenware of this era, the piece shows two minor historic flaws: a small, stable hairline fracture located on the lower foot pedestal base (Image 1) which does not affect structural stability or display display balance, and a small, shallow glaze flake/chip along the interior seating rim flange of the bowl where the lid rests (Image 3), completely hidden from view when the lid is in place. No major cracks or modern restorations present. less
