A rare tabletop photographic frame by Mathieu Matégot, a major figure in post-war French design, crafted from perforated and pleated metal, known as Rigitulle, in its original white lacquered finish.
This creation testifies to the designer's extraordinary inventiveness, transforming perforated sheet metal into a supple and sculptural material, worked like a textile. The regular pleating, particularly refined at the corners, creates a wide, graphic, and architectural border, characteristic of his explorations of metal in the 1950s.
The frame rests on its original lacquered tubular metal easel and retains its mounting brackets, allowing it to hold a photograph, engraving, or work on paper measuring 24.5 × 17.5 cm.
Provenance: former gallery that distributed Mathieu Matégot's creations at the time.
Condition: a remarkable example, entirely original, in its period white lacquer. No repainting or restoration. Excellent overall condition, with its authentic patina and all original components.
