The base of the lamp is a Chinese Famille Rose porcelain baluster vase featuring a colorful, majestic bird (phoenix, peacock or pheasant) with huge peony blossoms and romantic rock formations.
On the back is a poem in Chinese calligraphy -
"A hundred varieties of red and purple flowers peacefully bloom in fragrant beauty; a sight of spring scenery filling the eyes coaxes one's brow to unfurl in joy."
"In the second lunar month, the blossoms of Luoyang are like beautiful brocade; from the highest layers of heaven, the auspicious phoenix arrives in majestic grace."
The vase stands on a craved wooden base painted black. The hardware is brass with two pull chain sockets.
The lamp was assembled and finished in Los Angeles, CA with porcelain made in China.
