This vintage coffee table is a low, square-form design with softly rounded corners, built in the stacked rattan tradition associated with Paul Frankl. The base is formed from three tiers of bundled rattan poles, each tier bent into a flowing, rounded-square band that sits one above another with open gaps between. The effect is a rhythmic, layered silhouette that reads almost like a ripple. Short vertical blocks of rattan rods connect the tiers at the corners, and their cut ends form neat, circular details along the edge. The table rests on four compact feet made of tightly bundled canes, splayed slightly at the base for visual lift. The top is a smooth, honey-toned wood surface with a fine, linear grain and a warm, satiny sheen, framed by a slim rattan edge band that follows the rounded corners. The original finish glows with a golden patina, deepening where the cane curves and joins. Subtle tonal variation across the poles, from pale straw to rich amber, adds natural depth. The open, airy base keeps the table visually light despite its generous footprint.
Place this table at the center of a living room seating group, in a sunroom, or in a lounge area, where its broad surface suits books, trays, and plants. It complements Mid-Century Modern, Boho, Coastal, Hollywood Regency, and Organic Modern interiors, especially with woven rugs and lush greenery. To care for it, dust with a soft, dry cloth or a vacuum brush attachment, wipe the top with a barely damp cloth, use coasters to protect the finish, and avoid harsh chemicals, standing moisture, and prolonged direct sunlight. The table measures 42 inches (1067 mm) wide, 42 inches (1067 mm) deep, and 15 inches (381 mm) high. Offered in very good vintage condition, it retains its original finish with a warm patina, minor surface scuffs and light wear on the tabletop edges, and is structurally sound with no significant damage or repairs.
