The slender canes are cut to varied lengths and laid in tight, staggered courses, so the joints shift from row to row and create a rhythmic, brick-like pattern. Natural nodes, fine surface checking, and subtle tonal variation from pale straw to warm amber give the exterior a rich, tactile quality. The top edge is neatly finished with a thin rattan cap, and the lower edge steps into shallow, notched cutouts that form small block-like feet, lending a refined, floating line. The interiors are lined with light, open-grained plywood panels, with simple wooden cleats and support rails inside that provide a sturdy base for a platform or slat system. The two units sit side by side to form a king-size foundation, and the pair is closely matched in scale, stacking pattern, and finish.
