The ashy grey stone has stunning white veining and a smooth, patinated surface. It is in good condition with only minor surface scratching and etching, consistent with the commode’s age and continued use. The walnut body has three wide, paneled drawers with brass trim, all of which open smoothly with rectangular brass bail pulls. The drawers’ locks are intact and in working order with their accompanying key. Framing the drawers are two fluted panels that recall Greek columns, in keeping with the Louis XVI style’s preference for classical motifs. The piece sits on four tapered, turned walnut feet. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this commode is ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
