The top has … Read more This 19th-century French commode in the Louis XVI Style is made with stunning burl walnut inlay veneer. The top has offset, rounded corners and is made up of burled panels within frames of straightgrain wood. Some cracking can be seen across the top, which is consistent with the veneer’s age and the commode’s continued use. The framing continues along the drawer fronts. The three wide drawers open smoothly with brass ring pulls, which have rosettes at their centers. All three locks are intact and share two keys between them. Round, fluted corners frame the drawers and transition into tapered feet. Visible throughout the piece are the square wooden pegs used to secure joins in the chest. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
