A handsome antique Mission oak rocking chair by The Harden Line of Camden, New York, dating to circa 1910. Richly figured oak, broad flat arms, and a tall slatted back give this Arts and Crafts rocker a strong architectural presence, complemented by deep emerald green upholstery.
Its substantial square posts, slatted sides, and visible pegged joinery emphasize the straightforward craftsmanship central to Mission design. Long curved runners balance the chair’s angular frame, while the upholstered spring seat adds a welcoming touch. The underside retains its period paper manufacturer’s label reading “The Harden Line,” with “Factory No. 2” and “Camden, New York.”
A distinctive accent for a Craftsman bungalow, fireside reading nook, library, or collected interior. The warm brown oak and green seat pair beautifully with antique books, pottery, richly patterned rugs, and other Arts and Crafts furnishings.
Condition: Age-related surface scratches, scuffs, and finish wear, particularly along the arms, posts, and rockers. Green upholstery shows creasing, small punctures, and wear at the edges. Exposed spring construction and burlap are visible underneath. Manufacturer’s paper label remains attached with age-related losses. Please review photographs for details.
