The chunky, hand-carved frames and the soft gray cushions give a deliberately rugged, comfortable look. Brutalist design of the 1960s and 1970s favored bold, sculptural and heavily built forms in natural materials such as oak, with a deliberately raw and weighty presence. Age-appropriate wear and a soft patina speak to a long and honest working life. Whether anchoring a reading corner or completing a grouping, it carries the quiet confidence of a well-made seat.
