Antique American country Boston-style rocking chair, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Featuring a gracefully shaped crest rail with faded floral stenciling, turned legs, spindle back, and a beautifully aged black painted finish.
The chair retains a wonderful timeworn patina, with surface wear, paint loss, and distressing consistent with generations of use. The floral decoration remains visible across the crest rail, lending distinctive folk-art character.
An iron bracket reinforcement at the rear of the wooden seat reflects a practical repair made at an unknown date. The underside reveals aged, unfinished wood and traditional construction details.
The chair is solid and stable, without wobbling, and retains its functional rocking movement. A braided seat cushion is included.
A charming example of American country furniture, equally suited to a farmhouse interior, primitive collection, or decorative accent setting.
