This is an impressive pair of patinated bronze candle holders featuring a fascinating mythological design. Each piece rests on a detailed dragon-turtle hybrid (often known as a Bixi) with a textured, hexagonal-patterned shell, a dragon's head with open jaws, and clawed feet.
Standing atop the turtle's shell on long, slender, textured legs is a stylized crane. The crane's body is detailed with feathers, and its curved neck reaches upward, supporting a branching structure of lotus-shaped candle cups. The set features a rich, dark brown patina with lighter bronze and reddish-copper highlights, giving them a beautiful antique aesthetic.

The bronze displays a heavy, desirable patina with varying tones of dark brown, reddish-copper, and lighter metallic highlights on the raised details. There are areas of oxidation and surface wear visible throughout, particularly on the undersides and base of the turtles, which add to the rustic, antique character of the pieces. The candle cups are intact. Please review all photos carefully for a detailed view of the condition. less
