The table is constructed in solid oak and features two functional drawers accompanied by dummy drawer fronts to the opposing sides, creating a balanced appearance suitable for placement in the centre of a room. The drawer fronts incorporate boldly carved handles that integrate naturally into the overall design. Particularly notable is the extensive hand-carved decoration throughout the table. Leaves, acorns and floral motifs are worked intricately into the substantial oak frame, demonstrating accomplished traditional carving. The base is further enhanced by highly decorative carved stretchers, giving the table considerable architectural presence. The medium-toned oak has developed an attractive colour and mature patina through generations of use.
